Sarasota offers an interesting diversity of neighborhoods for every lifestyle and price range, from downtown high-rise condominiums overlooking the Bay, to historic neighborhoods sprinkled with cottages and bungalows to sprawling country club estates.

The barrier islands each have their own unique character as well, from opulent Longboat Key with its manicured fairways, to laid-back Siesta Key with its tropical island feel.

An eclectic mix of architecture includes Spanish Mediterranean, Old Florida and contemporary designs, as well as examples of the minimalist Sarasota School of Architecture. Most Sarasota neighborhoods are within 15 minutes of the water.

THE KEYS

Some of the area’s most distinctive properties are located on the barrier islands.  In Sarasota County, the three distinct “islands” accessible by bridge are Casey Key, Siesta Key and Longboat Key.

Bird Key. Located just west of downtown Sarasota and the John Ringling Bridge, Bird Key is an exclusive gated enclave comprised of some 500 single family homes on quiet streets, many with wonderful views of the Sarasota skyline and the shimmering waters of Sarasota Bay.

Home of world-class golf and tennis resorts, Longboat Key offers residential options ranging from opulent high-rise condominiums lining the Gulf of Mexico, to sprawling bayside estates.

Enchanting Manasota Key is unique in that it has no high-rise buildings and no traffic lights.  What it does have is beautiful, pristine beaches and a two-lane, Florida-protected, tree-canopied road with private homes shielded behind lush tropical foliage.

Siesta Key.
With the distinction of having the "World’s Whitest Sand Beach," Siesta Key features a tropical island feel with a mix of residential options from waterfront homes and mid-rise condominiums to quaint beach cottages.
